My design internship with The Welcome Standard focused on leading the rebrand launch and clarifying its mission through thoughtful branding.

Project Overview

My Team

For this project which lasted from August to Mid-November 2025, my team consisted of:

- Founder/Internship Supervisor: Tori Magers-Smith

- Marketing & Graphic Design Intern: Elise Normand

- Brand & Digital Design Intern: Myself

The Why:

The Welcome Standard exists to make the first days of a new hire’s experience feel intentional, welcoming, and stress-free. The goal of this project was to rebrand and redesign The Welcome Standard to clearly communicate its value, build trust with both candidates and companies, and visually represent its mission of connection and community.

Following the Brand Vision

The new branding, created by Maureen (@maureenthebean on Instagram), provided the established guidelines for this project. This was my first time applying established brand guidelines, using the logo and color palette shown below across all design assets.

Website Redesign

My design process revolved around the following:
— Clear presentation of services and company mission
— Integrated scheduling system for meetings and appointments
— Dedicated blog page for insights, updates, and thought leadership
— Built in Squarespace for easy self-management

Marketing & Social Media Assets

I designed social content around two core storylines — the relocation/hiring experience and the Tampa Bay lifestyle — to connect with potential candidates and highlight the value of our services.

Beyond the Brand: Community Activation

As part of the relaunch, I suggested an in-person event to boost local visibility and brand awareness. We partnered with Keep Pinellas Beautiful for a South Gandy Beach cleanup in which we had 80+ attendees, 100+ pounds of trash collected, and branded goodie bags for direct sign-ups.

Our marketing efforts grew our Instagram followers from 135 to 170 in one month, while average post engagement increased nearly 300%, from 7 likes per post to 25–30.

What's next...

Looking ahead, I hope to keep working with The Welcome Standard as a freelance designer, helping shape their brand and design initiatives!
